Step 1: Turn Off Power

Turn the power off at the breaker box, not just the switch. This is important for your safety, you don’t want to get shocked.

Step 2: Remove Fixture

Remove existing fixture. If the ceiling where the old fixture hung is damaged or unfinished, you may want to consider installing a ceiling medallion with your chandelier. Bonus: How to Install a Ceiling Medallion

Step 3: Measure and Thread Trim Ring

Measure the length you want the support chain to hang. The supply wire should be slightly longer than the chain. Thread the fixture’s trim ring and optional medallion onto the chandelier’s chain.

Step 4: Connect Wires

Use a threaded tube to connect the fixture to the electrical box. Make the electrical connections using wire nuts. Push the trim ring up against the ceiling and secure it in place with a lug nut. The chain hook should sit just below.

Step 5: Secure Trim Ring

Push the trim ring up against the ceiling and secure it in place with a lug nut. The chain hook should sit just below. Editor’s Tip: If desired, remove old light switch panel. Attach dimmer light switch according to instructions on the package.
